Another bug fixed

Something related to logging framework. More time was spent setting up the product than actually coding, testing and reviewing! CL# 35604 landed in P4 at 2004/12/31 01:47:19.

When I asked Dukhi to review it, he thought long and hard on who should be the second reviewer. I would have loved to know what thought processes went through his mind when he selected Taatya Vinchu.

When it's not your day, it's not your day

Or translated to Hindi: Jab bad luck hi kharaab hain, to kharaab hain.

Yesterday was the finale of Pulse '04, a music program at JNH. I'd gone with Doctor, only because the football team was going to be felicitated for coming third. Doctor's girlfriend was also there, and the three of us had got last row seats. A few minutes into the show, 2 of Doctor's classmates walked in - both of them were in other companies. One of them was a very cute-looking girl, a typical Maharashtrian city girl. She came and sat right next to me. I was hoping for better things to happen between us. We said hi, but did not have any more conversation. Doctor did not bother to give intros, so I thought of telling him to do so during the interval.

So when it was announced that the prize-distribution would take place, the two of us walked out. With great hopes I asked Doctor who she was. I don't know why, but Doctor let me know the fact that she was already engaged before telling me her name! And this was what squashed my great hopes! Logically speaking, I could still have made conversation with her even after knowing that she was engaged. But somehow I was totally downcast. I caught only a brief glimpse of her again after this.

Conveniently ordered

Yesterday evening, I was in two minds whether to use my credit card to order the camera. I haven't yet used my CC since I got it, so I wondered if I had to do something like "enable" it. My problem was solved by Amit B. I was chatting with him last night and told him my problem, and he said he would order the camera for me. It would be convenient for everyone, all he had to do was add the necessary items into a shopping cart and make the order. The items would be shipped to his house, and Amit J would get them along. I would pay Amit B in Rupees when he comes to India in February. Simple as that :)

Stupid lecture

Had to attend a mandatory lecture on the security policies being developed for the company. This lasted for 2 hours, and midway thru my stomach was rumbling with hunger! I had to step out and partially satisfy it by having some tea and biscuits! On coming back, the lecturer drawled on in a monotone that lulled me to sleep for some 15 minutes! I got out of there with the others when a "question-answer" session started. Crap!

Fast forward

Today went by like a breeze! I spent most of the time reading reviews of digicams. I am planning to ask Amit J to get one along with him for me. I have shortlisted the Canon Powershot A-85, which costs $250 at Amazon. Along with that I'm getting a case for $5, and a 256 MB Viking CF card costing only $25! Later in the evening, there was the fun and revelry of Pulse '04, which featured kiddish events like "sack race" and "lemon n' spoon race" besides a well-contested "tug o' war".

Weekend update

Here we go...

Saturday was spent lounging at home, doing absolutely nothing. It was Anoop's birthday, so at 2 PM we went out to buy a sweatshirt for him. He insisted on getting it either from an Adidas or Nike showroom. The Nike showroom had a very sorry collection, so we went to Adidas where he bought a nice-looking one. He then thought about buying a pair of jeans, but put it off. Back home, I read 2001 - A Space Odyssey during the load-shedding hours from 12 to 3 PM. After that it was total TP on the compie - AoE, FIFA and some "thr" development.

Sunday started with Univ United football. There were only 12 people present, so we had to be content with a half-field 6-a-side game. On coming home, resumed the TP on compie. Load shedding started at 3 PM, and I spent the 3 hours sleeping peacefully. Compie all the way up to 8.30 PM. At 7.30 I got a call from Anand P, who asked me to come over to his house. I went and met him after dinner. We chatted about UMBC and other stuff till 11:00. That's all that happened on the last weekend of 2004.
